Unheard

Your body is a battlefield.
Every scar, every movement has a story to tell.

The bruises on your knee brings a smile to your face, when you recall how stupid it was to try that stunt on the stairs.
That twisted foot when you were playing with a kid across the street.
Those stretchmarks remind you of the time when you were so adamant to achieve something.
That shoe bite which made you walk the streets bare feet, with your sandals dangling in your hands.
The birthmark which you share with your mom.

Hidden scratches from your fingernails; when you could not control your anxiety anymore.
Silhouette of your feet, which makes you believe that your father is still alive; as a part of you.
That mole on your face which you secretly admire.
Eyes, which continue to rebel even when you decide to keep quiet.
Long forgotten scar which reminds you of the time when you kept on fighting with all your might.
Feet, that twirls when you are happy.
Arms that automatically wrap around to embrace you when its gloomy.
That constant thumping sound; your heartbeat, which encourages you to keep going.

Your sixth sense, which keeps you out of trouble.
It’s like your mother in disguise.

A long lost memory which keeps you awake till four in the morning.
That fragrance that gets your heart racing.
That forgotten touch, which triggers something inside you.
Sudden rise in temperature and heavy breathing when you meet someone you admire.
Your heart, which makes you feel everything that’s around you. Even something that you can’t see.
Your headstrong brain, that pulls you into reality and makes you stay focused.

This body does a lot for you.
It fights a new battle everyday. Some are so vivid that they come into notice. While many of them are unheard; fought secretly, within the darkness, hidden from everyone.

Adorn and embrace every scar with pride.

Rest.
Breathe.
Pause.
But don’t stop.

Your body is a battlefield.
YOU are the warrior !
